Russia Reports Downing Over 450 Ukrainian Drones

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 452 Ukrainian drones over various regions of Russia and in the Azov and Black Seas.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense has reported the successful downing of 452 Ukrainian drones. These aerial attacks were intercepted by Russian air defense systems during the past night across several Russian territories, including Tula, Moscow, Krasnodar, and Crimea. Drone activity was also detected and neutralized over the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

The report follows the declaration made by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21, 2022, where he recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, citing Western disregard for Moscow’s security concerns. Three days later, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, President Putin initiated what he termed a “special military operation” against Ukraine, escalating the tense Moscow-Kyiv relations into a direct military confrontation.

In response to Russia’s actions, the United States and other Western nations have imposed extensive sanctions on Moscow and have provided billions of dollars in military and logistical support to Kyiv.
