Israel Restricts U.S. Refueling Aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport Amid Flight Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel will not permit a larger contingent of American refueling aircraft to be stationed at Ben Gurion Airport, as reported by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Transportation Minister Miri Regev.
Currently, 20 such aircraft are based at the airport, a measure implemented to prevent the cancellation of commercial flights. Regev stated that despite assurances over two and a half weeks ago by the Ministry of Transport that threats to summer flights had been eliminated, the crisis has resurfaced.
“We are in the middle of the summer season, and we will not cancel any flight tickets due to American refueling aircraft,” Regev added. Previously, the United States had halted the process of removing its refueling planes from Ben Gurion Airport.
Israeli officials had warned that if the situation persisted, tens of thousands of flight tickets would be canceled. Israeli media outlets had also pointed out that Ben Gurion Airport was effectively being transformed into a military base.
