Lebanese MP Highlights Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Leverage Amid US Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Lebanese Member of Parliament, in a recent interview with Al-Jadeed television network, pointed to recent U.S. actions against Iran, particularly in the southern region. He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses a powerful weapon in the form of the Strait of Hormuz, alongside its unique defensive capabilities.
Hussein Al-Haj Hassan, representing the Loyalty to Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, elaborated during the interview that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is not merely a diplomatic channel. He asserted that Iran holds the potent Strait of Hormuz as a strategic advantage and possesses specific defensive capacities capable of targeting U.S. bases in the region.
Al-Haj Hassan challenged claims of invulnerability for these bases, urging skeptics to review CNN’s reports from three weeks prior concerning damages sustained by American installations. He further remarked that no Arab nation has been compelled to host American bases that facilitate aggression against Iran.
While expressing disagreement with any aggression against any Arab country, including Iran, Al-Haj Hassan strongly opposed Arab nations permitting U.S. bases to be used for actions against Iran without consequence. He questioned the origin of recent missile attacks and aircraft movements into Iranian territory, prompting consideration of the role played by certain Arab countries in collaboration with the United States and Israel against Iran.
