Armed Militias Clash with Syrian Security Forces in Northern Aleppo

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, fighting has broken out between armed militias and security forces loyal to the Jaulani administration in northern Syria, specifically in the city of Azaz in Aleppo Governorate. The clashes involved severe exchanges of gunfire between security personnel and armed elements.
A statement from the internal security and order authority in Azaz, affiliated with the Jaulani administration, indicated that the confrontation began when a patrol unit attempted to mediate and de-escalate an armed conflict between several groups in the city center. However, the patrol vehicle was directly fired upon and set ablaze.
In response to this incident, the relevant command deployed additional support forces, including reinforcements and special units, to the scene to stabilize the situation, ensure maximum civilian safety, and prevent the spread of insecurity to other areas.
Al-Araby television reported that the initial crisis stemmed from a tribal dispute between two prominent local families. Following the attack on the Damascus-affiliated officers during the clashes, a senior official, Aleppo Security Commander Mohammed Abdul Ghani, personally traveled to Azaz to directly manage the crisis.
Since December 2024, following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government and the subsequent rise of new administrations under Mohammed al-Jaulani, northern regions of the country have intermittently experienced security challenges and conflicts between Damascus government forces and armed individuals.
