Yemen’s Negotiating Envoy Affirms Sanaa’s Commitment to Dialogue Amidst Escalation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mohammed Abdulsalam, the head of Yemen‘s negotiating delegation, clarified that while attacks continue against the Yemeni people, the delegation is maintaining its communications and meetings with various parties to articulate Sanaa’s stance on recent developments. He emphasized that the operations by Yemeni armed forces against ships, military movements, and Saudi camps within the country are a legitimate response to recent aggressions, such as the attack on Sanaa airport.
Abdulsalam recalled that Sanaa has fully adhered to the ceasefire and de-escalation for the past four years, refraining from any hostile actions against Saudi Arabia. He pointed out that in response to this commitment, Saudi Arabia exploited the ceasefire period for planned escalation in economic and livelihood sectors to pressure the Yemeni people. Riyadh intensified the blockade by imposing arbitrary inspections and detaining ships for months. Furthermore, through directives to its affiliated forces, it targeted Yemeni banks, money exchangers, and merchants, actions that have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, increased costs, and led to severe price hikes for goods affecting citizens.
Abdulsalam reiterated that Sanaa has never closed the doors to dialogue and negotiation, asserting that it is the Saudi side that has recently explicitly rejected negotiation, thereby contradicting its claims of supporting peaceful solutions. He added that the Saudis are evading meaningful engagement to complete their conspiracies and military preparations aimed at plunging the country into chaos and endless wars. He affirmed that Yemeni armed forces will continue their duty in confronting conspiracies, defending Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and dignity, and ensuring the full rights of the people.
Mohammed Abdulsalam stressed that they convey to regional and international parties engaging with them that any future path must lead to the achievement of the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people. Foremost among these rights are the reopening of airports and seaports, the payment of salaries, the resumption of oil and gas exports, and the allocation of these revenues for services for all the people, as outlined in the roadmap.
