Israeli Forces Shell Southern Syria Amid Escalating Border Provocations

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli army has continued its hostile actions and cross-border movements in southern Syria. Artillery units of the occupying army targeted the vicinity of the town of Al-Rafid, located in the southern countryside of Quneitra Governorate, with heavy artillery fire on Saturday night. Syrian Al-Ekhbariya network confirmed the report, stating that at least six artillery shells were fired towards the Al-Rafid countryside. No reports on potential financial damages or casualties have been released yet.

This attack comes just hours after an Israeli military convoy, consisting of five armored vehicles carrying soldiers, infiltrated the area around Al-Rafid. After conducting patrol activities, the convoy withdrew from the region without any arrests or confrontations with residents. Border areas in southern Syria, particularly the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, have recently witnessed an increase in aggressions, military movements, and inspection patrols by the Israeli army.

In a related development, two artillery shells hit the vicinity of Tel Al-Ahmar Al-Sharqi on Thursday. Last Tuesday, a local shepherd in the west of Al-Rafid was detained by Israeli soldiers and released after several hours of interrogation. The provinces of Quneitra and Daraa in southern Syria daily experience military infiltrations, raids on residential areas, citizen arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints.
