IAEA Board of Governors Convenes for Quarterly Session in Vienna

Data published by Mehr News Agency, citing the IAEA website, confirmed the commencement of the meeting.

Key agenda items for the session include discussions on nuclear safety and security, the implementation of safeguards in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, and an assessment of the nuclear safety situation in Ukraine. Iran’s nuclear dossier is under consideration amid ongoing efforts by the United States and three European nations to pass a new resolution targeting Tehran.

The Board of Governors is also tasked with reviewing the agency’s financial statements, programs, and budget, making recommendations on these matters to the General Conference. Furthermore, the board will examine membership applications, approve safeguard agreements, and endorse the publication of the IAEA’s safety standards.
