Yemeni Forces Target Strategic Port of Mokha to Expand Influence in Bab al-Mandab

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al Jazeera reported that the primary objective of the Yemeni armed forces in their recent operations against the Saudi-backed self-styled government has been the seizure of the strategic city of Mokha. Control of this city would enable Yemen to substantially increase its influence along the Bab al-Mandab, one of the most critical routes for international shipping and trade.

The Yemeni armed forces are also seeking to sever supply lines for the Saudi-backed self-styled government forces. This includes disrupting the road between Mokha and Taiz, the southern routes from Mokha that supply these forces, and the logistical lines via the port of Mokha, which has served as a crucial logistical hub for these forces on Yemen’s western coast.

The capture of Mokha, if solidified, would significantly diminish the military and logistical capacity of these forces, while conversely strengthening the position of the Yemeni armed forces near Bab al-Mandab.

For this reason, Yemeni armed forces are currently advancing south from Mokha. Reports indicate that this advance has encountered little resistance, as Saudi-backed mercenaries have withdrawn from their positions.

If this trend continues, the Yemeni armed forces could seize more areas of Yemen’s coast and move closer to Bab al-Mandab.
