Chinese President Xi Jinping to Visit United States for State Visit
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Beijing announced on Monday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will conduct a state visit to the United States from Wednesday to Friday this week (October 1st to 3rd). This trip represents his first official state visit to the country since 2015.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the visit is being made at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. During his meetings with Trump, Xi is expected to engage in “deep exchanges” on critical issues concerning China-U.S. relations, as well as global peace and development.
Guo Jiaqun, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented that the reciprocal visit by the leaders of the two countries within approximately six months holds “historic significance.” He further added that high-level summit diplomacy plays a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of Beijing-Washington relations. China intends to collaborate with the United States to enhance dialogue and cooperation, manage differences, and contribute to global peace, stability, and prosperity.
Xi’s last state visit to the United States was in September 2015, at the invitation of Barack Obama. He also met with President Trump in 2017 during Trump’s first term. In 2023, Xi traveled to the U.S. and met with then-U.S. President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit; however, that trip was not classified as a state visit.
The upcoming visit follows President Trump’s state trip to China in May. Since assuming the presidency in 2013, Xi has visited the United States five times.
According to reports from American media, it is anticipated that President Trump will welcome Xi at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, near Washington D.C.
A number of senior executives from Chinese companies, including electric vehicle manufacturer BYD and smart device producer Xiaomi, are expected to accompany Xi on this trip.
