France Welcomes Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts Between Iran and the United States

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States. This development was reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.

Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two officials discussed regional developments.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, Barrot lauded Pakistan’s mediation endeavors between Tehran and Washington. He emphasized the necessity of establishing “the most comprehensive negotiations possible.”

According to the ministry, the objective of these negotiations should be to contribute to ensuring the security of energy supplies and to find a sustainable solution for addressing what France describes as “threats emanating from Iran in the nuclear, missile, and regional domains.”

The two sides also engaged in discussions concerning regional developments and agreed to continue fostering bilateral relations in academic, cultural, and sustainable development fields.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that both parties underscored the importance of ongoing diplomatic engagement and regional efforts to resolve crises. They also stressed the need for the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States.
