Iraqi Airways to Resume Flights to Iran in October
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi Airways announced today, Tuesday, that its flights to Iran will begin in October. This development was reported by the Mehr News Agency, citing the airline.
In a statement, the airline indicated that these flights are part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and ensure air transport links. Through continuous efforts and under the direct order of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, with precise field follow-up by Minister of Transport Wahab Al-Hasni, successful measures were taken to obtain the special permit for Iraqi Airways to operate flights to Iran.
The company added that its teams are rapidly preparing aircraft and completing all necessary requirements for flight scheduling. Consequently, Iraqi Airways flights to and from Iran are slated to commence in October. These services will operate from Najaf International Airport, pending the completion of all requisite legal procedures.
This decision follows the suspension of flights by Iranian airlines to Iraq, which began on September 23rd. Iraqi Airways itself had halted its flights to Iran in early March as a precautionary measure, citing heightened military tensions and the need to ensure the safety of flights and passengers.
Iraqi Airways emphasized that the resumption of flights will proceed after all necessary legal and technical requirements are met, ensuring operations comply with approved regulations.
