Denmark’s Ambassador Summoned to Moscow Over Military Helicopter Incident in Baltic Sea

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Rolf Holmboe, Denmark’s Ambassador to Moscow, was summoned to the ministry. A protest was formally conveyed to him regarding provocative maneuvers by a Danish military helicopter directed at a Russian naval destroyer.

The ministry emphasized that repeated dangerous actions by Denmark in the Baltic Sea could escalate tensions. This diplomatic intervention follows an earlier statement from Russia’s Ministry of Defense, which reported that a naval vessel from the Baltic Fleet fired two flares in the Baltic Sea to prevent a provocative incident. The flares were discharged after a Danish military helicopter approached the Russian destroyer.

According to the defense ministry’s statement, the Danish helicopter departed the area subsequent to the warning shots fired by the Russian naval ship.
