Turkey Rules Out Offensive Use of ‘Mecca Agreement’ Forces

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that Ankara will not deploy forces for offensive operations under the ‘Mecca Agreement,’ emphasizing its defensive nature and commitment to mutual protection among member states.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkey‘s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that his country will not dispatch any forces for offensive actions within the framework of the “Mecca Agreement.” He clarified that the agreement is inherently defensive, designed to provide mutual support if any of the three member nations face an attack.

Fidan further elaborated that military committees established under the “Mecca Agreement” are currently assessing potential joint participation in supporting Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks. The minister also highlighted the growing impact of escalating attacks on shipping in the Black Sea, stressing the importance of preventing the region from becoming a new theater for the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
