Lebanese President Raises Israeli Violations with U.S. Senator

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has formally complained to U.S. Senator James Lankford about ongoing Israeli actions in southern Lebanon, citing breaches of the framework agreement mediated by the United States.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun informed U.S. Senator James Lankford that Israel continues its actions in southern Lebanese villages and towns from which it has not withdrawn. He stated that these actions contradict the provisions of the “Framework Agreement” signed between Beirut and Tel Aviv with American mediation. According to data published by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen, Aoun added that Lebanon is employing all means to halt the destruction of homes and facilities in occupied towns and villages and to complete the process of returning prisoners. He also clarified that the Lebanese army is carrying out its missions in the south, as in other regions of Lebanon, and requires support through the provision of equipment to strengthen its capacity in executing these missions. These remarks from the Lebanese President, voicing complaints about the Israeli regime’s breach of covenant and treaty violations to a U.S. senator, come as the Secretary-General of Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance have repeatedly emphasized that direct negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv yield no results and that occupiers can only be expelled from Lebanese territory through internal agreement and resistance.
