Iraq Halts Oil Exports to Jordan Due to Technical and Quality Issues

Iraq has suspended crude oil exports to Jordan due to technical challenges related to the quality of crude oil and the processing capabilities of Jordanian refineries. The suspension follows discussions about replacing Kirkuk light crude with Basra medium crude.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, crude oil exports from Iraq to Jordan have been stopped due to technical reasons concerning the characteristics of the crude oil and the Jordanian refineries. Salim Al-Rukabi, spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, announced this development based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting the Ministry of Oil.

Al-Rukabi explained that Jordanian refineries previously received Kirkuk light crude, which was compatible with the nature and operational conditions of these facilities. However, he stated that quantities of this particular type of oil are currently unavailable.

The Iraqi spokesperson further revealed that Iraq had proposed supplying Basra medium crude oil as an alternative to Kirkuk light crude. The Jordanian side, however, indicated that their country’s refineries are not equipped to process this type of crude oil.
