Israeli Forces Escalate Operations in Southern Syria, Targeting Quneitra and Daraa

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian sources have reported new movements by the Israeli regime in southern Syria. Syrian news outlets indicate that Israeli artillery shelled Tal Al-Hamriyah in the Quneitra countryside, as well as the eastern Al-Samdaniyah village in the same region. Israeli soldiers were also reported to have entered the Hanoun farm in Quneitra with three vehicles. In further incidents, occupying Israeli soldiers infiltrated west of Saida Al-Jawlan village in Quneitra, expelling shepherds and shelling a water tanker before withdrawing. Additionally, Israeli forces raided a home in Wadi Al-Raqqad in the Daraa countryside, arresting a young man and stealing a motorcycle. Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government in December 2024, the Israeli regime has exploited the prevailing security vacuum in Syria. This has included bombing heavy defense facilities and warplanes, alongside advances in the southern Quneitra region. Israel has also occupied parts of southern Syria, including the strategic heights of Jabal Al-Sheikh. Following Quneitra province, Daraa province ranks second with 32 border violations, characterized by more dangerous incursions including artillery attacks, ground infiltrations, and intensive fighter jet flights. Violations in Rif Dimashq and Sweida governorates have primarily involved the flight of infringing drones. These Israeli military movements in southern Syria and presence in the Quneitra periphery are linked to consolidating military and armament presence and establishing new security perimeters along the Golan ceasefire lines. Damascus has repeatedly stated that incursions by Israeli forces into Syrian border territory violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and its national sovereignty, issuing warnings about the consequences.
