Yemeni Parliament Speaker Criticizes UN Security Council Red Sea Statement as Biased

Yemen’s Speaker of Parliament, Yahya Al-Rai, has strongly condemned a recent UN Security Council statement regarding the Red Sea, deeming it disappointing and biased in favor of the Saudi government.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Al-Masirah Network, Yahya Al-Rai, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, sent a message to Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. In his message, he expressed his strong dissatisfaction and condemnation of the Security Council statement issued on October 9th, describing it as disappointing and biased in favor of the Saudi government.

Al-Rai also announced that the information presented in the briefing report by the UN envoy regarding the threat in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait is not accurate.

The Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament emphasized that maritime traffic for all vessels continues to operate normally and safely, with the exception of ships associated with Saudi Arabia, and within the framework of the “siege for siege” equation.

Al-Rai concluded by holding the United Nations and the Security Council responsible for abandoning their humanitarian and ethical roles throughout 12 years of war and siege on Yemen by Saudi Arabia.
