Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that strategic ties with Azerbaijan are paramount, stating that any differences between Ankara and Baku can be resolved through dialogue and should not harm their robust relationship. He highlighted the ‘one nation, two states’ principle that underpins bilateral relations, even during challenging times.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking on the sidelines of the 7th CICA Summit in Baku, stressed the strategic importance of Turkey‘s bond with the Republic of Azerbaijan. He acknowledged that while divergent approaches may exist on certain issues, these differences should not be allowed to undermine the strategic relationship between the two nations.

Fidan reiterated the principle of “one nation, two states” in the context of Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, noting its manifestation across all sectors of their interaction. He further highlighted the enduring bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the leaders of both countries, asserting that these relationships have been tested and proven strong, even during periods of war and crisis.

The Turkish Foreign Minister advocated for resolving differing viewpoints within the framework of fraternal relations and through constructive dialogue. He cautioned against exploiting these issues to damage the strategic ties between Ankara and Baku. Fidan also warned against the escalation of disagreements into fodder for social media propaganda, underscoring Turkey and Azerbaijan’s capacity to address their matters in a civilized manner, consistent with their historical relationship.

Addressing the increasing social and media interactions between the citizens of both countries, Fidan observed that expanded social networks and communication channels have amplified the mutual influence between Turkish and Azerbaijani societies. He confirmed that the leaders of both nations are cognizant of this dynamic, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan providing specific directives to him prior to his visit to Baku.

Fidan also mentioned discussing these matters with Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and hearing his perspectives. According to Fidan, both sides are committed to preventing the exploitation of any disagreements and the creation of new obstacles in their bilateral relations.
