UNICEF Reports Over 340 Children Killed in Gaza Since Ceasefire

The spokesperson for the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that the Israeli army has killed more than 340 children in the Gaza Strip and injured hundreds more since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ricardo Pears, spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), stated that the Israeli army has killed over 340 children in the Gaza Strip and wounded hundreds of others since the ceasefire was implemented on October 11, 2025. These figures were published by Mehr News Agency, citing Quds News Agency.

During a weekly press conference at the UN office in Geneva, Pears reported that in the past two weeks alone, five boys and two girls were killed in Israeli attacks, despite the ongoing ceasefire. Additionally, two other children succumbed to previous injuries, and at least 33 children sustained severe wounds.

He further elaborated that approximately 800,000 children in the Gaza Strip remain displaced, with most living in tents or damaged buildings lacking adequate security. Estimates also indicate that around 60,000 children in Gaza have lost one or both parents.

The UNICEF spokesperson emphasized that children in Gaza are facing difficult conditions for survival for the fourth consecutive winter. He noted that while the ceasefire has led to a limited improvement in food security, the war’s repercussions continue to affect every aspect of children’s lives.

Pears also announced that over 560,000 children have returned to education in various learning centers since the ceasefire was declared, including more than 200 UNICEF-supported facilities.

However, he cautioned that many essential services in the Gaza Strip remain inaccessible, and humanitarian needs in the region are extensive, while available financial resources are significantly less than required.

More than a year after the ceasefire began, Israeli attacks and violations persist in various parts of the Gaza Strip, with residential areas and Palestinian lands being targeted by military strikes.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 31, 2026, that a roadmap for the implementation of ceasefire stages and the cessation of hostilities against Gaza had been achieved, with Palestinian factions expressing their agreement on multiple occasions. Nevertheless, daily Israeli violations continue.

The continuation of these attacks has heightened concerns about the weakening and collapse of the ceasefire, while Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue to face the consequences of the war, widespread destruction, and intensified humanitarian needs.
