Trump Attributes Congressional Election Losses to Economic Impact of Conflict with Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Bloomberg that high gasoline prices in the country stemmed directly from the military confrontation with Iran, noting that this phenomenon cast a heavy shadow over the government’s economic accomplishments.
Evaluating the outcome of the midterm elections, the high-ranking American official congratulated the Democratic Party and praised their electoral performance, reminding observers that even an effective president can occasionally face electoral defeat.
In explaining public dissatisfaction with the current situation, Trump identified surging fuel costs as the primary factor. He elaborated that American citizens failed to genuinely experience the benefits of the government’s economic prosperity because high energy prices dominated their perception of the broader economy.
Claiming that the United States economy remains at the peak of its strength and that his first-term record is exceptionally bright, Trump emphasized that fuel inflation prevented citizens from properly appreciating these advancements. He once again traced the root cause of these high prices to the conflict against Iran.
While international bodies have consistently verified the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, the US President defended the military action against Iran, alleging that the objective of the offensive was to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Trump mentioned that despite the shifting balance of power in Congress, he is willing to cooperate with House and Senate lawmakers, provided that the opposing side demonstrates a similar political will.
Furthermore, emphasizing that he will not back down on contentious issues, Trump invoked his legal authorities and warned that he is fully prepared to veto legislation passed by Congress.
The US midterm elections were held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The announced results weakened the Republican position in Congress, allowing the Democrats to secure control of both legislative chambers.
