Netanyahu Accuses Arab Parties of Terrorism Support, Threatening Israeli Identity

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Arab parties of supporting terrorism and seeking to undermine Israel’s Jewish identity, amidst political maneuvering following the latest Knesset elections. His remarks come as opposition leader Benny Gantz is reportedly set to receive the mandate to form a new government.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that radical Islam poses a challenge that is dismantling European countries and threatening Israel from both external and internal fronts. In his first televised appearance since the Knesset elections, Netanyahu alleged that this threat emanates from Iran and its proxies externally, and from Islamic parties within Israel that support terrorism.

Netanyahu asserted that these parties explicitly aim to erase Israel’s Jewish identity and also seek to neutralize the nation’s ability to defend itself against its adversaries. He further contended that a government reliant on radical Islam cannot effectively combat extremist threats, warning that such a cabinet would not only fail to confront enemies but would also lead to internal disintegration, characterizing the situation as existential.

These accusations from Netanyahu followed shortly after the announcement by the Joint List of Arab parties in the Knesset that they would support Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity Party, in forming the new Israeli government. Channel 12 of Israeli television reported that Gantz is expected to receive the primary mandate to form the new government, with 56 Knesset members recommending him compared to 46 for Netanyahu.

Concurrently, protests are taking place outside the residence of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, with participants calling for reforms and changes within the new Israeli cabinet.
