America vetoes the resolution of Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations
The Deputy Spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the negative vote of his country in the Security Council meeting. |
Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesperson of the US Department of State, announced that the country will vote against the resolution proposed by Algeria and will veto the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations.
According to the Hill magazine, this American official claimed that there is no consensus among the 15 members of the Security Council that the Palestinian Authority has met the criteria for membership in the United Nations. He also claimed that there are “unresolved questions” about the sovereignty of the Gaza Strip.
Patel said: “That is why America will vote against the proposed resolution of the Security Council.”
The statements of this official of the US Foreign Ministry are made while China and Russia have previously declared their full support for Palestine’s membership in the United Nations and considered it a gateway to peace in the region.
The claim of not meeting the UN standards was raised earlier by the representative of the Zionist regime and was met with the reaction of the Russian representative. Vassily Nebenzia clearly said in the meeting of the Security Council that the Zionist regime did not meet these criteria and despite this fact, it was accepted in the United Nations.
Analysts say that regardless of the outcome of today’s session, the US negative vote will put more moral and political pressure on this country and the Zionist regime and will increase the isolation of both.
