Arab League: We no longer call Hezbollah a terrorist group

After meeting with some officials of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, the Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League said that the League no longer calls Hezbollah a terrorist group.

Hossam Zaki, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, made these statements today (Saturday) in a conversation with Al-Qahir Al-Akhbariya network.

He said about this: “In the decisions of the Arab League, there used to be a terrorist title for Hezbollah, which was adopted in the decisions, and there was no connection with Hezbollah based on these decisions.”

Hossam Zaki added: “The member countries of the Arab League have agreed not to use this title, because it opens the way for us to communicate.”

In 2016, the Arab Union included Hezbollah in its terrorist list on charges of fueling extremism, sectarianism, interfering in the affairs of countries, and supporting terrorism.

Lebanese newspaper “Al-Akhbar” wrote on Friday that this decision was made after Hossam Zaki’s trip to Beirut and his meeting with “Mohammed Raad”, the head of the “Al-Ofaa Lall-Mawamomah” faction (affiliated with Hezbollah of Lebanon).

This media pointed out that this meeting was unprecedented in the last 10 years and Hossam Zaki met with Hezbollah officials after years of disconnection. that this movement has been removed from the terrorist list of the Arab League and this league believes that Hezbollah plays a significant role in the future of Lebanon.
