Erdogan: The structure of the Security Council must be fundamentally changed

The President of Turkey stated: The structure of the UN Security Council, which is far from fulfilling its duties to ensure global peace and security, must be fundamentally changed.

reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Anatolia news agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly approved the recent statements of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres regarding the reform of the Security Council and emphasized the need for a more just world system.

Erdogan said in a statement addressed to Post X Guterres: The structure of the UN Security Council, which is far from fulfilling its duties to ensure global peace and security, must be fundamentally changed.

President of Turkey added: The Security Council was designed by the victors of World War II. It is very valuable to honestly and loudly express your opinions about the necessity of reforms in the UN Security Council in accordance with the current conditions and in a fair way for the world in order to enjoy a fair system.

He specifically addressed the absence of Africa in this council and said: The continent of Africa and all our African brothers should be given the opportunity to participate in this fair system.
