Parliamentary consultations of the new president of Lebanon have started to elect the prime minister of this country and form a new cabinet.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by Al-Sharq, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has started his parliamentary consultations today to name the prime minister responsible for forming the new government of this country. The post of prime minister in Lebanon is of particular importance because it has broad powers.

With the election of the new president of Lebanon, this post was assigned after 2 years, and now it’s time to elect the prime minister and form a new cabinet. The most important names proposed for this post are Najib Miqati, the Prime Minister of the Government of Lebanon, Nawaf Salam and Ashraf Rifi.

On September 2021, he took control of Lebanon’s affairs during the presidency of Michel Aoun. Previously, he held this post in 2005 and 2011.

Nawaf Salam is one of the most prominent candidates for the post of Prime Minister and a relative of Tama Salam. He previously worked as Lebanon’s representative to the United Nations and the Security Council. In 2020, his name was mentioned, but Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Amal movement opposed his election due to his affiliation with America and France.

Ashrif Rifi is one of the former security forces of Lebanon and a politician of the opposition movement, who is currently working as a member of the parliament of this country.

In 2015, he was elected as the Minister of Justice of the Tammam Salam government, and previously he was the director general of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces until 2013. Rifi is known for his positions regarding the necessity of exclusive weapons in the hands of the government.

Fouad Makhzoumi, one of the representatives of the Lebanese Parliament from the opposition movement in this country, was also one of the names proposed to take over the said post, who today announced his resignation in favor of Nawaf Salam. announced.

Al-Manar network also reported that until an hour ago, the results of the parliamentary deliberations for the election of the prime minister were as follows: Najib Mikati 5 votes and Nawaf Salam 4 votes.
