News agency “Reuters” to Kyodo news agency reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered the country’s coast guard to strengthen its activities to exercise sovereignty over the East China Islands, which Japan also claims sovereignty over.
This order was issued while the Japanese government has approved a military budget of 56 billion dollars to deal with the possibility of China and North Korea.
The focus of Japan’s defense budget in 2024 is the deployment of surface-to-air missiles, especially to protect the southwestern islands of Japan in the event of a conflict between China and Taiwan.
After the United States and China, Japan has the largest military budget in the world. Last year, this budget was about 48 billion dollars.
