According to a Fars news reporter in Tashkent, in 2024, Uzbekistan will increase the total capacity of solar power plants to 2.6 GW, wind power plants to 900 MW, and start energy storage devices with a capacity of 400 MW. .
“Shaukat Mirziyoyev”, the President of Uzbekistan, in a meeting reviewing the measures taken in 2023 and the measures planned for 2024 in implementing the investment policy and increasing the share of renewable resources He got acquainted with the energy sector.
In this meeting, it was emphasized that more than 22 billion dollars of foreign investment was attracted last year, which is 1.8 times more than the previous year.
Uzbekistan president emphasized the importance of increasing the volume of foreign investments this year by analyzing the work done, and in the meantime ordered to increase attention for electrotechnical fields, machine building, construction materials industry , pharmaceuticals, textile and leather industries.
Also, the importance of targeted measures with big investors, strengthening of economic diplomacy and participation of foreign diplomatic missions in attracting foreign investments was emphasized.
In addition, the effective use and timely absorption of funds from international financial institutions were reviewed and the need to spend these funds on social, infrastructure and water projects was emphasized.
Also, the necessity of intensifying the attraction of grants this year was emphasized and the tasks of expanding cooperation with foreign and international organizations in the fields of ecology, environmental protection, health, higher education, science and innovation were determined.
At this meeting, “green” energy development issues were also discussed.
Currently, in Uzbekistan, major actions are being taken on 28 projects based on government partnership. and private construction of solar, wind and hybrid power plants with a total capacity of 6.3 gigawatts. Of these, in 2023, the first capacities within the framework of 7 projects with a capacity of 2.6 gigawatts were launched. The solar photovoltaic station in the provinces of “Samarkand”, “Jazkh”, “Sarkhan Darya”, “Bukhara” and “Qashqe Darya”, as well as a wind power plant in the province of “Navai” were connected to the grid.
Currently, considerable work is being done on 12 projects to build “green” stations and energy storage systems in cooperation with companies from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, China, France and Switzerland.
In this meeting, the tasks of completing the projects that started last year and the plans to create new “green” capacities in the coming years were discussed.
