Shoigu: Sending Peacekeepers to Ukraine Will Lead to World War
Russian Security Council Secretary Warns Any Deployment of Forces to Historic Russian Lands Will Lead to World War III
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS,Sergey Shoygu,Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, warned that any deployment of forces—including peacekeepers—to historic Russian territories would lead to World war III.His remarks came in response to reports about potential Western European troop deployments to Ukraine as part of a possible peace agreement.
Shoygu referenced plans by the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” group to deploy and station infantry in Ukraine under the guise of “peacekeepers,” stating: “Sensible politicians in Europe understand that implementing this scenario could result in direct confrontation between NATO and Russia or even trigger World War III.”
The senior Russian official argued that the term “peacekeepers” conceals intentions to control Ukraine and its mineral resources, adding: “It would be more accurate to label such forces as aggressors or occupiers.”
He further claimed these so-called peacekeepers could support Kyiv’s Nazi regime, persecute Orthodox Christians, and launch campaigns depriving Russian speakers of their right to speak their native language while eroding their cultural traditions.
