“Özgür Özel,” Leader ‌of turkey’s main Opposition Party, Attacked by Unidentified Man in Istanbul

According to the ⁢English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Russia Al-Youm, the leader of Turkey’s main opposition party was attacked today after leaving ‍an event⁣ in⁣ Istanbul. ⁤

Özgür Özel, head of‍ the Republican People’s party (CHP), Turkey’s primary‌ opposition party,​ was exiting the Atatürk Cultural Center in central Istanbul when a white-haired man⁢ approached‍ him and struck his face with his hand.‍

He has also recently⁤ faced ⁢lawsuits filed by President ⁣Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on charges ⁣of “insult” ⁣following⁢ his sharp criticisms of the government.
