U.S. President Repeats Threat to Use Military Force to Occupy Greenland
According to a report by the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu, Donald Trump, the U.S.president, has onc again threatened Greenland with military force as part of his expansionist agenda.
in an interview with NBC, when asked about resorting to military power, Trump stated: “I don’t rule it out. I’m not saying I plan to do it, but I don’t rule anything out.”
Claiming that the autonomous island of Greenland—located within Danish territory—holds critical importance for “international security,” he added: “We desperately need greenland. It has a very small population, and we will take care of them.”
As returning to the White House in january this year, Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in acquiring Greenland despite widespread and persistent opposition from denmark.
Greenland has been part of the Kingdom of Denmark as the 18th century and has been self-governing since 1979. Located between the arctic and Atlantic Oceans, this island is rich in mineral resources and lies in a strategically vital region.
Both Denmark and Greenland have rejected any proposals for sale. According to research conducted in January, 85% of the population opposes joining the United States.
In March, Jens Frederik Nielsen, Greenland’s elected prime Minister, called on Europeans to stand by the island and emphasized that Greenland is not for sale.
