According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, U.S. secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a phone call with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff asim Munir, stated that the United States is prepared to assist in initiating constructive negotiations between the nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan to prevent further escalation of tensions.

Tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad intensified following last month’s attack on a group of tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in 26 deaths. The situation escalated further after India conducted precision strikes on targets inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir last Wednesday.
In response,Pakistan launched a new wave of drone attacks for the second consecutive night against 26 locations across India—from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat.
