Guardian Exposes: US University Spied on Pro-Palestine Students

According to a report by webangah News Agency, Al Jazeera cited the UK’s Guardian newspaper in exposing that the University of Michigan employed specialized covert security personnel to monitor pro-Palestine student groups.
the report states that these investigators were tasked with surveilling pro-Palestine students both on and off campus, recording their conversations and intercepting communications.
Some students alleged the investigators engaged in intimidation tactics, issuing threats and verbal abuse against them.
The investigation suggests these undercover operatives work for a private security firm based in Detroit. Thay reportedly gather evidence used by prosecutors to charge and incarcerate targeted students.
The Guardian further revealed that between June 2023 and September 2024, the University of Michigan paid this security firm over $800,000 for these services.
