Baghdad calls US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities a regional threat
Basim Al-Awadi, Iraq’s government spokesperson, condemned reported U.S. targeting of nuclear facilities inside Iran, stating it endangers regional stability and peace in the Middle East.
Al-Awadi reiterated Iraq’s firm opposition to the use of force in international relations, calling for respect for national sovereignty and protection of critical nuclear infrastructure. He stressed that military solutions cannot replace dialog and diplomacy.
The spokesperson warned that continued attacks could lead to further escalation in the region.
Dangerous tensions risk escalating beyond borders, threatening regional and global stability. War only brings devastation, and the duty of major powers and UN-affiliated organizations should be to prevent further global crises-not fuel them. Iraq calls for immediate de-escalation and urgent diplomatic channels to contain the situation.
The Iraqi government has emphasized that unchecked tensions could have consequences extending beyond national boundaries, destabilizing the region and the world. Officials stress that war leaves only destruction in it’s wake, urging influential nations and UN-linked bodies to prioritize crisis prevention over escalation. Baghdad demands an immediate calming of tensions through swift diplomatic engagement to mitigate the unfolding crisis.
