Former Russian Transport Minister Dies by Suicide

Media reports indicate the suicide of Russia’s former transport minister.

According to a report by webangah News Agency, citing Reuters, Russia’s Emergency⁢ Situations Ministry confirmed⁣ in⁣ a statement ⁣on Monday that the country’s former transport minister had died‌ by suicide.

The statement identified the deceased as ​ Roman Starovoyt, who took his own life⁤ in ‌odintsovo, Moscow‌ Region, ⁣shortly after‍ being dismissed earlier that day.

The advancement​ followed russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree removing Starovoyt from ⁢his position ⁢as transport ‌minister. The presidential order, published on the kremlin⁢ website, stated it took affect instantly ‌upon signing.

No explanation was‍ provided ⁣for Starovoyt’s dismissal‍ in either the emergency services’ statement ⁣or the presidential decree.

Starovoyt‍ had been appointed transport minister in May 2024 after serving as governor‍ of Kursk Region as⁢ September ‌2019.
