Trump Responds to Canada’s Recognition of Independent State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Agence France-Presse, US President Donald Trump today responded to reports about Canada’s recognition of Palestine as an independent state.
The US president said that Canada’s support for the creation of a Palestinian state makes it “very difficult” to reach a trade deal with Ottawa.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth social: “Canada has recently announced its support for the establishment of a Palestinian state. This will make reaching a trade agreement with them very difficult for us.”
Previously, Canadian Prime Minister Mark carney stated that they have decided to recognize Palestine during the next United Nations General Assembly scheduled for September. Canada’s decision is conditional upon commitments from the Palestinian authority to undertake necessary reforms. “The prospect of achieving a two-state solution is disappearing before our eyes, and we are striving-with our partners-to make this solution viable,” he added.
