Putin Sets Condition for Complete Ceasefire and End of Ukraine War
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, The Wall Street Journal reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to halt hostilities in exchange for capturing additional parts of eastern Ukraine during a meeting with Steve Wittkoff, former U.S.President Donald Trump’s special envoy for West Asia.
The Wall Street Journal, citing European and Ukrainian officials, wrote that Putin told Wittkoff if Kyiv withdraws its forces from the Donetsk region and Moscow gains full control over Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea, he would agree to a comprehensive ceasefire.
According to The Wall street Journal, European officials familiar with this proposal expressed renewed skepticism and worry that Putin might be attempting to delay negotiations to avoid secondary sanctions imposed by Trump’s management.
Trump has announced he will meet face-to-face with Putin on August 15 in Alaska for the first time as beginning his second presidential term.
