According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Wafa News Agency, a senior official in the Palestinian Authority described reports by some Israeli media outlets about appointing a Palestinian figure to govern Gaza with the Authority’s approval as incorrect.
The source emphasized that the only authorized party to manage Gaza is the Palestinian government or its administrative committee, headed by one of its ministers.
This official added that any engagement with individuals outside the framework of the Palestinian government represents a deviation from national interests and aligns with occupiers’ plans aimed at separating Gaza from the West Bank and displacing its residents.Gaza remains an inseparable part of Palestine’s territory.
Earlier, Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that covert communications have been ongoing for months to appoint Samir Halila, a Palestinian businessman, as governor of Gaza.
The newspaper quoted participants in these discussions stating they aim to assign obligation in Gaza to someone supported by the Arab League, accepted by Israel and the United States, who could manage Gaza after any conflict ends.
