Iran’s President Vows Decisive Response to Aggressors, Emphasizes Regional Cooperation
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Monday, September 1, 2026, prior to departing Tehran for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 26th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, that the international gathering holds significant strategic importance with the attendance of most regional leaders. He emphasized that in a global climate where some international bodies are attempting to establish a singular narrative, this summit symbolizes the presence of diverse and independent voices on the world stage.
The President underscored the ancient civilizational ties of the region’s nations, stating, “We live in a region whose destiny, history, and civilization date back thousands of years, and we have always been interconnected, coexisted, and grown together. Therefore, peace, security, economy, and civilization have emerged from this land, and it is natural that we must strive to expand this process in today’s world.”
Pezeshkian expressed hope that the summit’s constructive discussions would prove the capability of regional leaders to manage the region themselves, linking regional tranquility, growth, peace, and development closely.
Addressing potential aggressors, the President issued a stern warning: “We are not seeking war, and this is a clear message we have conveyed to the world. However, we will not remain silent in the face of any aggression and will respond decisively to aggressors.” He added that instability and unrest in the region benefit no country and will challenge all, urging collective efforts to ensure regional security, economic prosperity, and development.
Concluding his remarks, Pezeshkian expressed optimism regarding the summit’s outcomes, stating that the presence of most regional leaders and bilateral discussions on the sidelines could contribute to the region’s security, economic, and political progress, and would hopefully yield beneficial results for all participating nations.
