Gaza Medical Relief Chief Reports Deteriorating Health Conditions
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian Shehab news agency,Dr. Mohammad Abu Afash, head of medical relief in northern gaza Strip, stated that the health situation in Gaza is extremely challenging. Hospitals recieve a large number of patients, injured individuals, and casualties daily.
He added that cases of malnutrition are rising. Medical teams face severe difficulties treating the wounded due to acute shortages of essential equipment, medicines, and medical supplies.
the Gaza health official emphasized that many surgeries must be postponed as there are no functional operating rooms. This is partly due to deliberate attacks by Israeli occupiers targeting healthcare personnel.
He said Israeli forces intentionally bomb hospitals, destroy their facilities, and assassinate medical staff to exert pressure on civilians and make life unbearable for them.
Separately, research published by The Lancet highlights a new threat in Gaza: the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. This could lead to more severe diseases and faster transmission of infectious illnesses. The study analyzed over 1,300 samples collected from Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza.
The Lancet research stresses that severe shortages of medical supplies combined with extensive war-related injuries and weakened physical condition caused by malnutrition have worsened patient outcomes considerably.
Meanwhile, The Guardian reported-quoting a World Health Organization representative for the Palestinian territories-that more than half of vital medicines have run out in Gaza. Although limited amounts of medical equipment have arrived recently, thes fall far short of what is urgently needed.
“Rick Bebber Koren” described public health conditions in Gaza as catastrophic and warned that hunger and malnutrition continue to cause death and illness among Gazans.
