Zelensky to Meet Starmer in London Today
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London today, ahead of tomorrow’s meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. president Donald Trump in Alaska.
Zelensky, who traveled to Germany yesterday, has been working closely with European leaders to pressure Trump and prevent what he describes as the potential dismemberment of Ukraine during negotiations with Putin in Alaska.
Reuters reports that Zelensky is scheduled to meet Starmer at 9:30 a.m. local time (around noon) at the official residence on Downing Street.
Yesterday, Trump held a virtual meeting hosted by Germany with European leaders including Zelensky. According to Reuters,the Ukrainian president aimed to establish Kyiv’s red lines ahead of tomorrow’s summit between Trump and Putin.
Zelensky stated that during his conversation with Trump, he warned that Putin’s claims about wanting to end the war are “bluff.”
Trump responded by threatening “serious consequences” if Putin refuses a peace agreement with Ukraine. Although he did not provide further details about thes consequences, he warned that economic sanctions would be imposed on Moscow if tomorrow’s talks prove unproductive.
