UK Defense Secretary Issues Statement on Ukraine Ahead of Trump-Putin Meeting
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency adn Al Jazeera, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace addressed the situation in Ukraine.
He stated, “We are ready to send troops to Ukraine to provide assurance to the Ukrainian people.”
The UK Defense Secretary added that if British forces are deployed, they would have the right to defend themselves in case of an attack.
This statement comes ahead of a crucial meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia in Alaska.
The conflict in Ukraine began after Western powers overlooked Moscow’s security concerns and expanded NATO forces closer to Russia’s borders.
Following these concerns being ignored-especially by the US-Moscow launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24,2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly outlined his conditions for ending the war, including Kyiv’s commitment not to join NATO, lifting all Western sanctions against Russia, and complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas and Novorossiya regions.
