Macron Signals Approval for Transferring Ukrainian Territories to Russia
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on Sunday, echoing Russia’s alarming stance by claiming: “If we show weakness toward Russia today, we pave the way for future conflicts.”
On the eve of a meeting in Washington involving Ukraine’s president, leaders from several European countries, and the US president, Macron added: “The situation before tomorrow’s talks in Washington is critical not only for Ukraine but also for Europe. We must enter a new phase of diplomacy regarding Ukraine. Europe must have a seat at the negotiation table.”
Macron further stated: “We seek lasting peace and always respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Ukraine should serve as a model in any future developments. The structure of Ukraine’s army is fundamental to any security guarantees for the country. To achieve a lasting peace agreement, Ukraine needs a strong military. no nation will consent to ceding its land without receiving security assurances over its remaining territory.”
When asked whether Putin desires peace, the French president responded: “I do not think so.”
