U.S. Envoy Cancels Southern Lebanon Trip Over Fears of Public Protests
Al-mayadeen reports that the US envoy canceled his trip to southern Lebanon due to fears of escalating public protests.
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Mayadeen, reported that Tom Barrack, the US envoy, canceled his visit to Tire and Khiam in southern Lebanon.The decision was made out of concern over intensifying local protests in these areas.
Hours earlier, an Al-Mayadeen correspondent reported a protest gathering in Khiam against US interference in Lebanon, coinciding with the planned visit by the American delegation to the region.
News outlets also released footage showing Barrack patrolling southern Lebanese airspace by military helicopter.
Simultaneously occurring, Lebanese officials have not responded to US interventions in their internal affairs, including issues related to resistance weaponry.
