U.S. Troop Withdrawal from Baghdad Begins Tomorrow
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Arabiya, U.S. forces are expected to start withdrawing from the Iraqi capital on Saturday as part of implementing the bilateral agreement between Washington and Baghdad.
Informed sources also stated that American troops will leave Baghdad’s heavily secured Green Zone, which hosts Western diplomatic missions and official headquarters.
The withdrawal will include U.S. military presence at Baghdad International Airport and the Joint Operations Command headquarters of the Iraqi army, according to these sources.
This growth comes amid reports from political insiders that Washington has unexpectedly decided to fully withdraw all its forces from Ain al-Asad and Victoria bases in Iraq.
The signed agreement between baghdad and Washington stipulates that international coalition forces should leave Iraq by September this year, with a second phase concluding all withdrawals by December next year.
