Eman Takes Stand on Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Ghad via Mehr News Agency, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Belgium’s Foreign Minister maxim Prévot’s statement about his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine at this month’s United Nations General Assembly session.
The ministry described Belgium’s move as notable and aligned with international efforts aimed at recognizing a sovereign State of Palestine based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This recognition adheres to the two-state solution framework, relevant UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Fouad Al-Majali, spokesperson for Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, expressed his country’s appreciation for this development. He called it an important step against efforts that deny the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establishing an independent sovereign state on their national land.
Al-Majali also emphasized the importance of a two-state solution conference supervised by Saudi Arabia and France during UN General Assembly meetings. The conference aims to garner broader international support for recognizing Palestine based on a two-state framework. He described this solution as the only path toward achieving just and extensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
Al-Majali reiterated Jordan’s consistent position in working alongside international partners to uphold Palestinians’ rights to freedom, justice, ending occupation, self-determination, and establishing their own state.
