CNN: Trump Reviews Military Options Against Venezuela
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, CNN has reported from informed sources that U.S. President Donald Trump is exploring military measures targeting so-called drug cartels operating in Venezuela. These strikes could potentially extend into Venezuelan territory.
The report states that an attack on Venezuela could trigger a important escalation between Washington and this Latin American nation.
Previously, the United States caused 11 deaths by targeting a boat in the southern Caribbean Sea, which Trump claimed was transporting narcotics.
CNN described this strike as the start of a broader campaign against Venezuela and possibly an effort to remove Nicolás Maduro from power.
In a live broadcast aired across all Venezuelan radio and television networks, President Nicolás Maduro emphasized: ”None of the disputes we have had [with America] should escalate into military conflict. Venezuela has always been ready for dialog and engagement, but we demand respect.”
Meanwhile, to bolster its military presence in the region, the U.S.has deployed 10 F-35 fighter jets to Puerto rico to join American warships in the southern Caribbean Sea-an action claimed as part of Trump’s campaign against drug cartels.
