Deadly Accident in Central Mexico Claims 71 Dead and Injured

A ‍freight train collided with ⁤a bus⁣ in central Mexico, killing at least 10 people.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Associated ​Press via Mehr News⁤ Agency, a freight train crashed into a double-decker bus in central Mexico, resulting in⁤ 10 fatalities.

Authorities ⁤reported that at least 61 others were injured. Canadian pacific Kansas City de⁣ Mexico, ⁣the railway‍ company⁣ operating the⁣ train, stated that the bus involved attempted‌ to cross directly in front of the moving​ train.

Released images show significant damage to the front of the double-decker bus‍ with severe crushing and deformation of it’s metal frame.

The crash occured near an industrial town on ‍a highway ⁢between Atlacomulco, 115 kilometers‌ northwest of Mexico City-the ‌capital-and Maravatío.

Officials said some injured passengers were taken to ⁣hospitals in critical condition while others were discharged shortly ⁤after treatment.

Fatal bus accidents ⁤are common across Latin America. The latest Mexican government report on ‌highway incidents recorded⁣ 12,099 crashes in 2023 alone,​ causing over $128 million in damages along with approximately⁣ 6,400⁤ injuries and nearly 1,900 deaths.

In February this year, more than 40 people ‍died when a bus collided with a truck in northern Mexico.
