Trump Signals Readiness for Severe Sanctions on Moscow, With One Condition
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing AFP via Mehr News Agency, U.S. President Donald trump stated he is prepared to implement severe sanctions against Russia if all NATO members agree to fully halt oil purchases from Moscow.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: “I am ready to impose strong sanctions against Russia,provided all NATO countries agree and take similar action; specifically,that every NATO member stops buying Russian oil.”
The U.S. president added: “As you know, NATO’s commitment to victory is far less than 100 percent, while the continued purchase of oil from Russia has been shockingly high! This undermines your negotiating position and bargaining power against Russia considerably.Whenever you are ready, I am ready-just give me time. I believe this move combined with imposing 50-100 percent tariffs by NATO as a collective group against China-which will be fully lifted after the end of the Russia-Ukraine war-will greatly help end this deadly but absurd conflict. China holds strong control and influence over Russia, and these powerful tariffs could break that influence apart. This is not my war (if I were president it never would have started); this is Biden’s and Zelensky’s war, and I want to end it and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives!”
Addressing Europeans directly, he said: “If you’re not ready, you are wasting my time-and the time, energy, and money of the United States. Thank you for your attention on this matter.”
