Key Topics in Security Officials’ Meeting Between Russia and Iraq
According to the English section of webangah News agency,citing mehr News Agency via Shafaq News,Sergey Shoigu,Secretary of Russia’s Security council,arrived in baghdad on an official visit. He met with Qasim al-araji, Iraq’s National Security Advisor.
The media reported that Qasim al-Araji welcomed Sergei Shoigu and his delegation in baghdad in the presence of the Russian ambassador to Iraq.
A statement from Al-Araji’s media office said the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and advancing cooperation across multiple sectors.
The discussions covered exchanging expertise, sharing intelligence, and collaborating on border security, cybersecurity measures, counterterrorism efforts, and combating drug trafficking.
This meeting also served as preparation for an upcoming planned summit between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the forthcoming Arab leadership summit in Moscow hosted by Al Sudani.
Both parties additionally addressed regional developments including joint efforts to seek a diplomatic resolution to the Gaza conflict aimed at alleviating Palestinian suffering.
