Islamic Jihad: Trump Administration Is the Main Driver of Israeli Crimes Against Palestinians
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Palestinian Shihab News Agency, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement declared in a statement: “The US government’s use of its veto power to block the draft resolution on Gaza is further evidence that the Trump administration is an active partner and principal driver of Israeli regime crimes against the Palestinian people.”
The statement continued: “The Trump administration’s stance, coupled wiht Israel’s expanding assault on Gaza as part of Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts to reshape the region, not only disregards international and humanitarian laws but also ignores both the people in this region and their governments, which have been divided into two camps-either powerless before Israel or complicit with it.”
Just hours ago, in support of Israel, the US government again vetoed a UN Security Council draft resolution calling for an end to hostilities in Gaza.
Ten elected (non-permanent) members of the Security Council had requested approval for a draft resolution emphasizing a permanent ceasefire in Gaza along with humanitarian aid access for those affected.
On June 3, 2020, Washington previously vetoed a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and also unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The United States has provided thorough material and military support enabling what critics describe as genocide carried out by Israel against Palestinians. It has also repeatedly vetoed all Security Council resolutions aimed at establishing ceasefires in Gaza.
